SINOPSIS:

La historia de una ciudad es la historia de sus gentes. Ésta es la historia de un barrio y de su gente. De quienes lucharon por cambiar su propia historia y que nunca se rindieron ante las dificultades. Es una historia colectiva. Mujeres y hombres que dedicaron sus esfuerzos a cambiar una realidad de miseria, humedades, dolor y construyeron un futuro mejor para ellos y sus hijos.

En esta páginas hemos intentado traer no sólo la historia del cambio de Palomeras Bajas, sino la pequeña historia de sus habitantes, sus ilusiones, sus esperanzas, cómo afrontaban diariamente una vida difícil y llena de sinsabores y, también, de pequeñas alegrías. Y recordamos la violencia y la muerte en un barrio que siempre tuvo a orgullo su propia identidad.

Este libro continúa la saga iniciada en Vallecas Los Años de Barro. Se cuentan los pasos y la luchas de los vecinos del barrio de chabola de Palomeras Bajas, en Vallecas, para conseguir vivirndas dignas sin abandonar el barrio.

Con ritmo cinematográfico, Rodolfo Serrano y Román López-Cabrera narran la odisea de superación de unos vecinos que no se rindieron y se organizaron para defender su derecho a quedarse en las calles en las que habían vivido y lograron que la Administración terminara aceptando sus exigencias.

Of those who fought to change their own history and who never gave up in the face of difficulties. It is a collective story. In these pages we have tried to bring not only the history of the change of Palomeras Bajas, but the small story of its inhabitants, their illusions, their hopes, how they daily faced a difficult life full of disappointments and, also, small joys. And we remember the violence and death in a neighborhood that always took pride in its own identity.

This book continues the saga begun in «Vallecas Los Años de Barro». The steps and struggles of the residents of the Palomeras Bajas shantytown, in Vallecas, to obtain decent housing without leaving the neighborhood are recounted.

With cinematic rhythm, Rodolfo Serrano and Román López-Cabrera narrate the odyssey of improvement of some neighbors who did not give up and organized to defend their right to stay in the streets where they had lived and managed to get the Administration to end up accepting their demands.
